Paula Magdalene Schroer, 12/2/2000


Paula Magdalene Schroer, age 83 of St. Cloud, and formerly
of Howard Lake, died Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at St. Cloud Hospital.
Paula was born July 1, 1917, in Moltke Township, Gibbon,
Minn., to the Rev. Carl G. and Doris (Sauer) Seltz. She was baptized by
her father at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Gibbon.
In 1929, Paula was also confirmed by her father at St.
James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake.
Paula graduated from Howard Lake High School in 1933 and
then, attended the University of Minnesota for two years.
On Nov. 10, 1941, Paula married Roland H. Schroer at St.
James Lutheran, Howard Lake, with her father, the Rev. Carl G. Seltz, and
her brother, the Rev. Eugene N. Seltz, officiating.
The couple lived in Madelia, Minn., until Roland entered
the U. S. Navy. While he served in the South Pacific during World War II,
Paula lived in San Diego, Calif.
Following Roland’s overseas duty, they were stationed in
Miama, Fla., and Washington, D. C., before returning to Minnesota and settling
in St. Cloud in 1946.
Paula was an active member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church,
St. Cloud, for more than 50 years.
She is survived by her husband Roland; a son, Steven (Lisa)
of Evanston, Ill.; a sister, Elaine Boettcher of Menomonee Falls, Wis.;
four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a son-in-law, the Rev.
David Feeder of Loveland, Colo.
Paula was preceded in death by her daughter, Susan Schroer
Feeder on Nov. 4, 1996; and her brothers and sisters: Rev. Alfred Seltz,
Rev. Eugene Seltz, Irma Grimm, Rev. Martin Seltz, Doris Seltz, and Laura
Seltz.
Funeral services were Tuesday, Dec. 5, at Holy Cross Lutheran
Church with the Revs. David Strohschein and Paul Dare officiating. Organists
were Marcia Handahl and the Rev. Martin A. Seltz. Burial was at Corinna
Lutheran Cemetery, Annandale, Minn.
