Mary Elizabeth Specken, 12/23/2000


Mary Elizabeth Specken, age 89 of Winsted, died Saturday,
Dec. 23, 2000, at St. Mary’s Care Center, Winsted.
Mary was born June 25, 1911, in Winsted Township, the daughter
of Leonard and Mary (Westrup) Littfin.
On Dec. 28, 1948, Mary and Raymond Specken were joined
in holy marriage at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Winsted. Their marriage
was blessed with a son, Mike.
Ray preceded his wife in death on Jan. 4, 1990.
Mary lived in Winsted her entire life and was a lifetime
member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church and the Council of Catholic Women.
She enjoyed gardening, crocheting and cooking; and loved
her grandchildren and her great-grandson.
Mary is survived by her son, Mike (Marietta) Specken of
Winsted; grandchildren: Mike (Lynn) Specken of Waconia, Tom Specken of Winsted,
Tammy Specken and special friend, Chris Mueller, of Eau Claire, Wis.; and
Mindy Specken and special friend, Brad Radtke, and great-grandson, Caleb
Radtke, all of Winsted.
She is further survived by sisters-in-law, Adeline Karels
and Annie Pierson; a brother-in-law, Lambert Meuleners; nieces, nephews,
and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Mary was preceded in death
by a granddaughter, Tonya Marie; her parents; an infant sister, Magdalen;
brothers, John Littfin Sr., Ralph Littfin, and Albert “Al” Littfin;
and sisters, Margaret Harken and Clara Knoop.
A Mass of Christian Burial Thursday, Dec. 28, 10:30 a.m.,
at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Winsted. The Rev. Paul L. Wolf was the
celebrant, and organist was Lavon Kielkucki. Interment followed at the Holy
Trinity Cemetery.
Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, at
the Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m.
Casket bearers were Jack Littfin, Jerry Littfin, Kenny
Knoop, Dennis Johnson, Kenny Westrup, Dave Westrup and Raymond Getz.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
