Doris L. Westlund, 12/16/2000


Doris L. Westlund, age 90 of Howard Lake and formerly of
Stockholm Township, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, at the Ebenezer Covenant
Home.
Doris was born in Stockholm Township, Cokato, Feb. 25,
1910, the daughter of Magnus and Christine (Johnson) Munson.
On Oct. 6, 1946, Doris and Elmer Westlund were joined in
holy marriage in Minneapolis. God blessed their marriage with two children.

Following their marriage, the couple farmed Doris’ homestead
in Stockholm Township, near Cokato. The couple eventually retired to Howard
Lake.
Elmer preceded his wife in death Nov. 24, 1994.
Doris was a faithful member of Stockholm Evangelical Lutheran
Church.
She is survived by her children: Dorene C. “Dee”
(Ralph) Dalbec of Buffalo, and Darrell E. Westlund of Howard Lake; grandchildren:
Dawn, Robin and Dylan; a sister-in-law: Marcella Munson of Minneapolis;
and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Doris was preceded in death
by her parents; five brothers and six sisters.
Funeral services were Wednesday, Dec. 20, 11 a.m., at the
Stockholm Lutheran Church, with the Rev. James L. Naushultz officiating.
Organist was Melba Anderson. Soloist David Kanthak sang “Amazing Grace-How
Sweet the Sound” and “How Great Thou Art.” “Battle Hymn
of The Republic” was the congregational hymn, and granddaughter Robin
Dalbec read a poem. Interment followed at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Wayne Custer, Dean Custer, Adam Schmidt,
David Kanthak, Roger Dalbec and Tom Brooks.
The Peterson Chapel, Buffalo, served the family.
