Rawlie Lawrence David Albrecht

Rawlie Lawrence David Albrecht, age 77, of St. Louis Park and formerly of Howard Lake, died April 28, 2001 at Texas Terrace Care Center, St. Louis Park.

Rawlie was born April 5, 1916 in New Ulm, Minn. He grew up in New Ulm, as well, and also, briefly attended school there.

Rawlie drove cattle truck to Minneapolis as a young man. He also farmed in the 1950s in the New Ulm area.

On Sept. 25, 1957, he married LaVern McNeely and together, they moved to Clearwater and farmed there. They later moved to Brownton in the late 1960s to farm there, then to Winthrop and Cokato.

Rawlie lived in Cokato until a year ago, when be entered the Howard Lake Good Samaritan Nursing Home. Rawlie's final move was to Texas Terrace Care Center, where he passed away.

Rawlie enjoyed fishing and going on "road trips." One granddaughter has fond memories of driving around with Grandpa and stopping at the store for his favorite ­ cherries and hot dogs.

Rawlie is survived by stepdaughter Betty Chmielewski of Glencoe; grandchildren, Wanda Wiechmann, Bruce, John, Patrick, Katie and Amber Chmielewski.

Rawlie was preceded in death by his parents, and stepson Vernon Baumann.

Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, May 2, 1 p.m., at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home, Howard Lake, where the Rev. Dan Swanson officiated. Interment was at Howard Lake Cemetery.
