Carl Henry Bakeberg
Carl Henry Bakeberg, age 88, was called to his eternal rest July 14, 2001 at the Howard Lake Good Samaritan Center, where he lived following a brief illness.
Carl was born Sept. 11, 1912, in Howard Lake, the son of Henry and Hattie (Zander) Bakeberg. As a life-long member of St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake, he was baptized on Oct. 13, 1912, by the Rev. A. L. Oetjen, and confirmed in his faith May 30, 1926 by the Rev. C. G. Seltz.
Carl was united in marriage Nov. 22, 1945 to Anna Regan at St. John's Catholic Church, Minneapolis, by the Rev. Kallak. This union was blessed with the birth of two sons.
Carl and Anna made their home on a farm south of Howard Lake and Waverly on Lake Emma. Throughout his life, Carl enjoyed fishing and farming.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Hattie Bakeberg; one sister, Leona Adams; and three brothers, Leonard Bakeberg, Adelbert Bakeberg, and Elmer Bakeberg.
Carl is survived by his wife, Anna of Waverly; two sons, Greg (Butch) and daughter-in-law Faye of Waverly, George and daughter-in-law Kay of Waverly; nine grandchildren, Cindy (Jeff) Munn of Waverly, Dave (Kris) Bakeberg of Howard Lake, Tim (Danielle) Bakeberg of Melrose, Wis., Mary Bakeberg and fiancee, Matthew Lindberg of Waverly, Pat Bakeberg of Waverly, Ryan, Angie, Rachel, and Tony Bakeberg, all of Waverly; two great-grandchildren, Josie Bakeberg of Howard Lake and Lauren Munn of Waverly; brother Raymond Bakeberg of Howard Lake and sister-in-law, Eileen Bakeberg of Elk River; nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted July 17, 2001, at St. James Lutheran Church, Howard Lake, with the Rev. Michael Nirva and the Rev. Martin Schoenfeld officiating.
The organist was Diane Johnson. Interment was at the St. James Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Jeff Munn, Dave Bakeberg, Tim Bakeberg, Pat Bakeberg, Ryan Bakeberg, and Tony Bakeberg.
Honorary pallbearers were Cindy Munn, Mary Bakeberg, Angie Bakeberg, Rachel Bakeberg, Josie Bakeberg, Lauren Munn, Kris Bakeberg, and Danielle Bakeberg.
Arrangements were made by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home of Howard Lake.
