Raymond Bakeberg, age 86, of Howard Lake, passed away
Dec. 10, 2001 following a brief illness.
Raymond August Adolf Bakeberg was born May 21, 1915 in
Howard Lake, the son of Henry and Hattie (nee: Zander) Bakeberg. A life-long
member of St. James Lutheran CHurch, he was baptized June 20, 1915 by the
Rev. A. L. Oetjen and confirmed in his faith April 13, 1930 by the Rev.
C. G. Selz.
Raymond was united in marriage to Twyla Westphal Sept.
20, 1938, at St. James Church by the Rev. E. N. Selz.
During World War II, he served his country in the army.
Upon returning home, he worked as an electrician with his father-in-law
Ed Westphal. Wood working and making lawn ornament windmills were some of
his hobbies.
Ray was precede in death by his parents, Henry and Hattie
Bakeberg; his wife, Twyla; four brothers, Leonard Bakeberg, Adelbert Bakeberg,
Elmer Bakeberg, and Carl Bakeberg; one sister, Leona Adams; three sisters-in-law,
Doris Bakeberg, Eileen Bakeberg, and Irene Bakeberg; one brother-in-law,
Elmer Adams.
He is survived by his nieces and nephews, Richard and wife
Sharon Bakeberg of Pine CIty, Joyce Stadt and husband Keith of Zimmerman,
Greg Bakeberg and wife Faye of Waverly, George Bakeberg and wife Kay of
Waverly, Harriet Gustafson and husband Allen of Mound, Marvin Adams and
wife Kay of Brooklyn Center, Gerald Adams and wife Joyce of Chaska and Norman
Adams and wife Carol of Brooklyn Park; one sister-in-law, Ann Bakeberg;
and a host of relatives and friends.
Arrangements were made by the Swanson-Peterson Funeral
Home of Howard Lake. Funeral services were Dec. 14, 2001, at St. James Lutheran
Church, Howard Lake, with the Rev. Michael Nirva and the Rev. Martin Schoenfeld
officiating.
The organist was Nancy Butterfass. Interment was at the
Howard Lake Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Richard Bakeberg, Keith Stadt, Greg Bakeberg,
George Bakeberg, Allen Gustafson, and Marvin Adams.
