Katherine Marie (Kohler) BirdKatherine Marie (Kohler) Bird, age 41, of Keller, Texas, and formerly of Winsted, died Wednesday, June 20, 2001, in Dallas, Texas. Katherine was born December 15, 1959, in Saigon, Vietnam, the daughter of Raymond and Joyce (Hirsch) Kohler. She was baptized in the Catholic faith December 28, 1959. Katherine graduated from Winsted Holy Trinity High School in 1977 She enlisted in US Navy January 1978, where she completed four years of active duty as an avionics technician, followed by 12 years of service in the active Naval Reserves. She married Daniel R. Bird, November 10, 1981, at the US Embassy in Tokyo, Japan Katherine was preceded in death by her loving mother, Joyce, Nov. 17, 1999. She is survived by her husband, Dan; four children, David, Kristina, Timothy, and Jennifer, all of Keller, Texas; and her father, Raymond Kohler of rural Howard Lake. She is further survived by her brothers and a sister, Charles E. (Linda) Kohler and Jonathan L. Kohler, all of Hawaii; Jacqueline R. (Joe) Kitts of Texas, and Timothy J. (Laurie) Kohler of Wis.; aunts, uncles, other relatives, and friends. A memorial Mass for Katherine "Kay" Bird was conducted Saturday, June 30, 10:30 a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Winsted. The Rev. Paul L. Wolf was the celebrant, and interment followed with military rites at Holy Trinity Cemetery. Lavon Kielkucki was the organist for the Mass. Special music was provided by Tom Ernhart, Mary "Curley" Ernhart, Dorothy Holmers, Joe Holmers, and Maureen Cassidy. Doug Kohler, Marv Ernhart, Mark Laxen, Kris Laxen, Roland Miller, and Gladys Miller served as honorary casket bearers. The Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted, served the family. |
