Walter A. Burau
Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 15, for Walter A. Burau, age 87 of Lester Prairie. Burau died Thursday, Jan. 11, 2001, at Auburn West, Waconia.
He was born Feb. 12, 1913, at Waconia Township, the son of Leopold C. and Bertha C. (Gatz) Burau. He was baptized March 23, 1914, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Waconia, by the Rev. Wm. F. Schneider; and confirmed May 8, 1927, by the same.
On Aug. 27, 1938, Walter married Ethel Briesemeister at Zion Lutheran Church, Mayer, by the Rev. Schwandt. Ethel passed away Feb. 9, 1990.
Walter married Margaret Zellmann on May 18, 1991.
He is survived by his wife Margaret; son and daughter-in-law, Ordean and Dori Burau of Sandwich, grandchildren, Eric Burau and Scott Burau; stepdaughter and husband, Diane and Charles Huepenbeck of Mayer; stepsons and spouses, Ronald and Carol Zellmann of Watertown, Gerald and Peggie Zellmann of Everet, Wash.; Jesse and Beverly Zellmann of Tacoma, Wash.; 11 stepgrandchildren; 8 stepgreat-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Flora Luedtke of New Germany, Luella Granzow of Watertown, Glenna Schumacher of Eden Prairie, and Martha Kuntz of New Germany; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
In addition to his wife Ethel, Walter was preceded in death by his parents, Leopold and Bertha Burau; brothers, Albert and Arthur Burau; and sister, Ella Barlau.
The 11 a.m. funeral services were at Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia, with the Rev. Grant T. Bode officiating. Interment followed at Fairview Cemetery, Remer, Minn.
