Johanna Weber Burger
Johanna Weber Burger, age 95 of Norfolk, Va., and formerly of Winsted and Silver Lake, died on Tuesday, Jan. 9, 2001 in Norfolk.
She was born May 26, 1905, in Winsted, the daughter of Joseph and Anna (Schlagel) Weber Sr.
Johanna was joined in holy marriage to Harold Burger. God blessed their marriage with a daughter and two sons. Johanna and Harold engaged in farming for many years.
Harold preceded his wife in death March 10, 1957.
Johanna was a former member of St. Adalbert Catholic Church, Silver Lake.
She is survived by her children, Marcella Rietberg of Norfolk, Va., Marvin (Maureen) Burger of Hampton, Va., and Marcel Burger of Puerto Rico; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Frank Weber; sisters-in-law, Isabelle Weber and Elizabeth Weber, all of Winsted; and other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband, Johanna was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Daniel, Joseph, and John Weber; and a sister, Anna Quast.
A graveside funeral took place Friday, Jan. 12, 1 p.m., at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Winsted, with the Rev. Paul L. Wolf officiating.
Visitation was from noon until 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 12, at the Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
