Elizabeth Martha Cohrs
Funeral services for Elizabeth Martha Cohrs, 82, of Glencoe were conducted Monday, July 2, from the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, with the Rev. Harvey Kath officiating.
Mrs. Cohrs died on June 29, 2001, at Glencoe Area Health Services.
The organist was Mary Huebert, and the congregational hymns were "What God Ordains Is Always Good" and "Who Knows When Death May Overtake Me." The First Lutheran Ladies Choir sang "Asleep In Jesus." Lawrence Biermann sang "Lass Mich Gehen."
Pallbearers were Glenn Cohrs, Joel Cohrs, Jeremy Cohrs, Troy Cohrs, Michael Cohrs, Paul Specketer, Chad Ballman, David Cohrs and Tyler Cohrs.
Interment was in the First Lutheran Cemetery in Glencoe.
Elizabeth M. Thomas was born to William and Elisa (Prehn) Thomas on Jan. 27, 1919, in Hamburg. The Rev H.J. Boumann baptized her on Feb. 9, 1919, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg. She was confirmed in the Lutheran faith on April 9, 1933, also by the Rev. Boumann. She grew up and attended school in the Hamburg area.
On May 13, 1938, she was united in marriage to Albert G. Cohrs at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in Hamburg by the Rev. Boumann.
The Cohrs owned and operated a farm near Glencoe and had five children. On March 4, 1976, Mr. Cohrs died and Mrs. Cohrs continued to live on the farm with her son, Kevin.
In 1982, Mrs. Cohrs moved into Glencoe. She was a member of the First Lutheran Ladies Aid since 1976. Mrs. Cohrs enjoyed gardening, crafts, card playing and going on trips.
Survivors include her children, Roger Cohrs and wife, Betty, of Glencoe, Richard Cohrs and wife, Eunice, of Watertown, Eileen Specketer and husband, Gary, of Blaine, Sharon Koch and husband, Don, of Arlington and Kevin Cohrs and wife, Darla, of Glencoe; grandchildren, Glenn Cohrs and wife, Kim, Sheila Augustine and husband, David, Joel Cohrs and wife, Leigh, Annette Sanders and husband, Mark, Jeremy Cohrs and wife, Teri, Troy Cohrs and wife, Julie, Michael Cohrs and wife, Mary, Angela Specketer, Paul Specketer and wife, Racquel, Kari Jo Sowieja and husband, Jay, Chad Ballman and wife, Betty, Jodi Johnson and husband, Ryan, Becki Ballman, David Cohrs, Alecia Cohrs and Tyler Cohrs; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Erwin Thomas and wife, Gertrude of Hamburg; also many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Albert; and sister, Rosella Leistiko.
The Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel of Glencoe handled arrangements.
