Dorothy Marie Dietz

Dorothy Marie Dietz, age 83, of Annandale, died Thursday, Oct. 4, 2001, at the Buffalo Hospital.

Dorothy was born Oct. 24, 1917, in Mina, S.D. to the late Emil and Ida (Sieg) Elfman. She married Reinhold G. Dietz May 12, 1935 in Howard Lake. He preceded her in death July 12, 1981.

Dorothy lived in Howard Lake before moving to Annandale in 1971. She was a homemaker and member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Annandale. She loved her family and grandchildren, enjoyed cooking, baking, traveling, sewing, playing cards, games, and Sunday morning coffee.

Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Reinhold; daughter, Janet Ardolf; grandaughter, Michele Ardolf; sister, Lorna Blanchette; and brother, August Elfman.

She is survived by seven daughters, one son, and their spouses, Darlene and Darrell Hicks of Buffalo, Carol Jacobson of Annandale, Betty and James Biggs of Fort Wayne, Ind., Duane and Linda Dietz of Annandale, Rose Steuck of Annandale, Gloria and Reed Scheer of Howard Lake, Sally and Richard Mozingo of Fort Wayne, Ind., and Teresa and Leo McClanahan of Annandale.

She is further survived by three sisters, Erna Elsenpeter of Clearwater, Olga Hatcher and Thelma Mellin, both of Annandale; 32 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and many great-great grandchildren.

Funeral services were Monday, Oct. 8, 2001, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Annandale, with the Rev. Scott Jakel officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery.

Friends called Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale, and in the church prior to the funeral.

Terry Steuck, Randy McClanahan, Steve Lies, Brian Dietz, James Biggs, and Charles Hicks served as pallbearers.

Honorary pallbearers were Nathan and Tommy McClanahan, Timothy Scheer, Mark and Adam Lies, Greg Hicks, Cecil Mozingo, and Kenny and Sean Becker.

Music for the funeral was provided by Orma Lou Jacobsma and Bev Sorenson.
