Eleanor Lillian Dorothy Hedlund, age 70, passed away at the Meeker County Memorial Hospital, Litchfield, July 14, 2001. She had reached the exact age of 79 years, two months, and 22 days.
Eleanor was born in Cokato April 22, 1922. She grew up on the farm at Knapp, and attended Knapp School and Cokato High School. She was baptized and confirmed at North Crow River Lutheran Church.
In January 1940, Eleanor married Lawrence Hedlund at North Crow River Lutheran. They lived on a farm in Kingston. Eleanor moved to Cokato in 1965.
Eleanor had many jobs, which included working at the Cokato Inn, the Litchfield Produce, Annandale Truck Stop, Tonka Toys in Mound, and the Howard Lake Nursing Home. She loved to play cards, and whist was her favorite game.
She was active in the senior citizens, a volunteer at the Cokato Manor, and involved with the Lutheran Church Women at North Crow River Lutheran Church.
Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents; step father, Salem Peterson; husband; an infant daughter; sisters, Helen Long and Inez Bowen; daughter-in-law Beverly Hedlund; and grandson, John Hedlund.
She is survived by her children, Larry (Helen) of Hertford, N.C., Marcus (Margaret) of Plymouth, Gary of Minneapolis, Michael of Annandale and Therese (Gene Birkholz) Doering of Howard Lake; sisters, Evelyn Rhode of Spring Lake Park and Lucille Semke of Cokato; eight grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
