Elsie Lillian Rosin Heigl
Elsie Lillian Rosin Heigl, age 93 of Howard Lake, was called
home to her Savior on Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2001, surrounded by her family.
She was born July 22, 1907, in Burr Township, Osage, Iowa,
the daughter of Fred E. and Minnie (Coonradt) Muetz.
Elsie moved with her family to the Barrett area in 1913,
where she graduated from Barrett High School in 1925.
She was baptized and confirmed Aug. 21, 1925, at Zion Evangelical
Lutheran Church, Hoffman.
On Nov. 18, 1926, Elsie and Clarence E. Rosin were married
in Minneapolis. God blessed their marriage with 13 children.
They lived southwest of Barrett until 1957, at which time
they moved to a farm south of Cokato.
Clarence preceded Elsie in death in September 1976.
On Sept. 18, 1982, Elsie was united in marriage to Ben
Heigl of Winsted.
Elsie was a faithful member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran
Church, Winsted. She also belonged to St. John’s Ladies’ Guild, the VFW
Auxiliary Post #9232 and the Stockholm Township Birthday Club.
She will be best remembered in the area as “the Stanley
lady.” Others will remember her love of family, music and dancing,
flower gardens, handwork, volunteerism, travel, and lots of laughter.
Elsie is survived by her children: Orvin (Darlene) Rosin
of Barrett, Virgil (Kitty) Rosin, and Lois Fagerberg, all of Elbow Lake;
Kenny (Barb) Rosin of Gaylord, Delores (David) Johnson of Golden Valley,
Leonard (Carol) Rosin of Norcross, Marlys (Ed) Swetman of Edina, Ellerd
(Jan) Rosin of Blaine, Marilyn (Paul) Gatz of Winsted, Eunice (Ken) Wiebolt
of Brainerd, Gary (Dorothy) Rosin of Grand Rapids, Kathie (Bill) Schmieg
of Howard Lake, and Don Rosin of Eagle Lake; 62 grandchildren; 103 great-grandchildren
and 7 great-great grandchildren;
She is further survived by step-sons, Richard and Robert
Heigl and families; sisters-in-law, Mabel (Lorenz) Rosin of Elbow Lake,
Mary Quast of Winsted, and Lena Shovelain of Glencoe; and many other relatives
and friends.
In addition to her husband Clarence, Elsie was preceded
in death by her husband Ben, in May 1983; her parents, Fred and Minnie Muetz;
sisters, Nora, Ellen, and Lucille; brothers, Stanley, Glenn, Wilbur, and
Delmer; sons-in-law, Henry Petrie and Merle Fagerberg; and six grandchildren.
Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 27, 11 a.m., at St.
John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, Winsted, with the Rev. Gerald L. Boldt
officiating. Interment followed at the Winsted Public Cemetery.
Special music was provided by her grandchildren, Bruce
Gatz and Kay Knutson. Congregational hymns were “Beautiful Savior”
and “Blessed Assurance.”
Casket bearers were Leroy Rosin, Greg Rosin, Jay Rosin,
Scott Rosin, Dean Dorholt and Paul Fagerberg.
Friends called from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26, at the
Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted. A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. Visitation
continued one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to St. John’s
Evangelical Lutheran Church, Winsted.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
