Hildegard "Hilly" Henry
Hildegard "Hilly" Henry, age 84 of Waverly, died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at St. Mary's Care Center, Winsted.
"Hilly" was born Feb. 9, 1917, in St. Cloud, Minn., the daughter of Paul and Rose (Baggenstoss) Klein. She was the oldest of 19 children.
On June 23, 1936, "Hilly" married John Henry in Long Prairie. Eight children were born to this union.
"Hilly" was well known for her delicious fruitcake, and chocolate chip and sour cream cookies, as well as her yellow bean and bread soups. She loved, and was very proud of all of the members of her family.
She was preceded in death by her husband John; sons, Bob, and John, Jr.; one grandchild, Brenda Lee; and great-grandchildren, Jessica and Matthew.
"Hilly" is survived by four sons: Roy (Sylvia) of Montrose, Gene (Betty) of Burtrum, Dale (Sharon) of Minneapolis, and Jerry (Peggy) of Princeton; two daughters, Judy (Dudley) Greiner of Marion, Iowa; and Pam (Brian) Neaton of Waverly; 15 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; four brothers, 11 sisters; and many relatives and friends.
Visitation was Tuesday, April 17, from 4 to 8 p.m., at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Wavery; and also from 8:45 to 9:30 a.m. at the church prior to the funeral service on Wednesday.
Mass of Christian Burial was at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 18, with the Rev. Martin Shallbetter officiating. Music was by Therese Borrell, organist, with the church choir. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Brian Kittock, Coco Henry, Dudley Greiner, Jr., Jimmy Greiner, Jeff Henry, and Phil Lammann.
Honorary pallbearers were: Dawn Kittock, Michele Henry, Joyce Harty, Sissy Daniels, Lee Ann Tory, Debbie Krueger, Terri Peters, Anna Henry, Mary Henry, Rachel Kittock, Stephanie Gruenhagen, Amanda Gruenhagen, Tracy Amundson, Kelly Amundson, Shawn Tory, Sheldon Tory, Thomas Tory, Michele Anthony, Kaitlyn Krueger, Tyler Peters, Ashley Peters, Niles Hickman, Neila Hickman, Jamie Williams, Kayla Henry, Taylor Laumann, Amy Casper, Jessica Kraemer, Alex Kraemer, Ty Casper, Clay Casper, and Wyatt Casper.
Arrangements were by Iten Funeral Home, Delano.
