Florence M. Hokenson

Florence M. Hokenson, age 80, of Watertown, died Saturday, June 16, 2001, at Ridgeview Medical Center, Waconia.

Florence was born May 28, 1921 at Woodland Township, Oster, Minn., the daughter of Albert and Ellen (Nymquist) Eklund.

She married John P. Hokenson March 24, 1948, at Trinity Lutheran Church, Watertown.

Florence taught school in Watertown and the surrounding area for 33 years. She also taught Sunday School for many years at the Watertown Free Church.

She was a faithful prayer warrior in the Castle Hills First Baptist Church, San Antonio, Tex. prayer chapel.

Florence ministered to many missionaries, by writing and supporting them with regular correspondence.

Florence was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Ellen Eklund, a granddaughter, Anne Schmig; and brother and sister-in-law, Rudolph and Lorraine Eklund.

She is survived by her husband, John (Jack); children and spouses Richard and Jean Hokenson of San Antonio, Tex., Phyllis and LeRoy Schmig of Norwood Young America, Keith and Nancy Hokenson of Watertown, Dale and Sarah Hokenson of Waverly; grandchildren, Greg and Gretchen Hokenson, Patricia Hokenson, Stephen Hokenson, Jonathon Hokenson, Matthew Hokenson, Ellen Schmig, Christi Schmig, Brock Hokenson, Wade Hokenson, Brady Hokenson, Jered Hokenson; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Art and Audrey Hokenson of Marshfield, Wis., Mark and Barb Hokenson of Long Island, N.Y.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Florence M, Hokenson were June 20, 10:30 a.m., at the Evangelical Free Church, Watertown, with the Rev. Paul Kling and the Rev. John Mulvihill officiating.

Interment was at Oster Covenant Cemetery, Woodland Township, Waverly.

Kelly Diedrick, Harry Johnson, Earl Heding, Dean Wessman, Larry Strandquist, and Steve Parochka served as casketbearers.

Arrangements were made by Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia.
