Otto W. Jenneke
Otto W. Jenneke, age 92 of Winsted and formerly of Lester Prairie, died Sunday, Feb. 18, 2001, at St. Mary's Care Center.
He was born near Plato, Minn., in rural McLeod County, April 12, 1908, the son of John and Augusta (Worm) Jenneke.
Otto was baptized April 17, 1908, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Plato, by the Rev. J.S. Hertrick. He was instructed in the Lutheran Catechism, and confirmed in the Christian faith April 9, 1922, at the same church, by the Rev. R. Zwentsher.
On June 30, 1929, Otto was joined in holy marriage to Charlotte Diehn at First Lutheran Church, Glencoe. The Rev. E. Kolbe performed the wedding ceremony. God blessed their marriage with two children.
As a young man, Otto engaged in trucking and in 1942, started farming. Otto and Charlotte, eventually, would farm near Lester Prairie for 23 years.
In 1979, Otto and Charlotte moved into Lester Prairie. They moved to Winsted in June of 1995.
Otto was a faithful member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lester Prairie. He also had formerly served on St. Paul's Board of Education.
Survivors include his loving wife Charlotte; a daughter, Evelyn (LeRoy) Jungclaus of Lester Prairie; a son, Larry Jenneke of Bloomer, Wis., three grandsons; two great-granddaughters; one great-grandson, two great-great-grandsons; nieces; nephews; and other relatives and friends.
Otto was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters; and five brothers.
Funeral services were Thursday, Feb. 22, 3 p.m., at the Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted, with the Rev. Grant T. Bode officiating. Interment followed at St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Lester Prairie.
Friends called at the funeral home Wednesday, Feb. 21, from 4 to 8 p.m., and also at at St. Mary's Care Center, Winsted, on Thursday, Feb. 22, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Organist for the funeral service was Jane Holasek. Congregational hymns were "Just As I Am, Without One Plea," "I'm But a Stranger Here," and "Rock of Ages, Cleft for Me."
Jeff Jenneke, Jason Jenneke, Gary Jungclaus, Herman Rannow, Leonard Stern and David F. Johnson were the casket bearers.
The Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted, served the family.
