Ernest Anthony Kosek Sr.
Ernest Anthony Kosek Sr., age 75 of Silver Lake, died Saturday, April 14, 2001, at Burns Manor, Hutchinson.
Ernest was born June 13, 1925, at his home in Hale Township, Silver Lake, the son of Henry and Elizabeth (Novak) Kosek. He attended country school in Hale Township, and St. Adalbert's Catholic School.
Ernest farmed in the early years, then worked for the Winsted Creamery. He also worked as a mason at Lester's, Inc. for 34 years, before retiring.
On Sept. 24, 1946, Ernest married Stella Knoll at St. Adalbert's Church in Silver Lake. Ernest and Stella were married for 54 years.
Ernest was a member of St. Adalbert's and Holy Family Catholic Church, Silver Lake.
He enjoyed gardening, fishing, and playing baseball with his grandsons.
Ernest is survived by his wife Stella; a son, Ernest Kosek, Jr.; brothers, Clarence, Richard, and Jerome Kosek, all of Silver Lake; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Elizabeth Kosek; and a daughter, who died at birth.
Funeral services were Tuesday, April 17, at Holy Family Church, Silver Lake, with the Rev. Robert Mraz officiating. Music was provided by organist Val Shamla, and the Holy Family Adult Choir. Congregational hymns were "Amazing Grace," "On Eagle's Wings," "I Am The Bread Of Life," and "Jesus Christ Has Risen Today." Interment was at St. Adalbert's Cemetery, Silver Lake.
Serving as pallbearers were Loren Kosek, Dale Kosek, Jim Kosek, Randy Knoll, Jay Webb, Jr., and Conrad Webb.
Arrangements were by Maresh Funeral Home, Silver Lake.
