Hilda Anna Krueger
Hilda A. Krueger, age 88, of Lester Prairie, passed away Friday, Sept. 21, 2001, at the Glencoe Regional Health Services, Glencoe.
Hilda Anna Krueger was born Sept. 28, 1912 in Lester Prairie, the daughter of William and Bertha (Schuette) Miller. She was baptized Oct. 20, 1912 by the Rev. William Greve at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lester Prairie, and confirmed by the Rev. Arthur Spleiss May 16, 1926 at the same church.
Hilda attended and graduated from Lester Prairie Public School in 1929.
The Rev. E. Peithmann united Hilda in marriage to Mark Krueger Sept. 3, 1941 in Webster, S.D. Hilda and Mark moved to Florida and then, later, to Washington, D.C., where they lived for four years.
While in Washington D.C., Hilda was employed by the US Marine Corps while Mark was overseas. Hilda was also employed by Red Mark Hardware store from 1965 to 1982.
During her life, Hilda was a member of the Lester Prairie Garden Club and was an active member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she sung in the choir for 25 years, was a Sunday School teacher and was an LWML member.
For enjoyment, Hilda loved to go fishing, enjoyed knitting, reading, and baking,
Hilda especially loved to spend time with her family and friends. She spent countless hours playing cards and dominoes and loved to go visiting.
Hilda is preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Herbert Miller and William Miller.
She is survived by her husband, Mark Krueger of Lester Prairie; son, Paul (Beverly) Krueger of Shorewood; grandsons, Sean and Patrick Krueger; sisters and brothers, Leona Miller of Watertown, Lorenz (Marion) Miller of Minnetonka, Lorena Wolff of Minnetonka, and Roland (Gladys) Miller of Lester Prairie; sisters-in-law, Othilia Otto of Winsted, Gertrude Rogers of California, and Florence Smith of Litchfield; as well as many other nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Hilda Krueger were Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, 2 p.m., at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Lester Prairie, with the Rev. Grant Bode officiating.
Jane Holasek was organist for the service, and the congregation sung "A Mighty Fortress," "The Old Rugged Cross," and "Amazing Grace" as hymns.
Chuck Thiel was the soloist, and sang "In The Garden."
Sean Krueger, Patrick Krueger, Don Miller, Karlos Wolff, Robert Miller, and Bud Miller served as casketbearers. Honorary casketbearers were Steve Peterson, Bill Price, Jason Miller, Jeffery Miller, Martin Miller, and Gilbert Rolf.
Interment was at the church cemetery.
Visitation and evening prayer services were Sunday, Sept. 23 at the Paul-McBride FUneral Chapel, Lester Prairie.
