Janice Lynn Kruse
Janice Lynn Kruse, age 65, of Winsted died Saturday, Oct. 6, 2001 at St. Mary's Care Center.
She was born in Minneapolis March 8, 1936, the daughter of Edwin and Alice Young Mattson.
Janice was baptized April 20, 1946 at St. Stephen Episcopal Church in Edina. She was also confirmed at the same church May 21, 1950.
Janice graduated from Edina-Morningside High School in 1954 and attended Macalester College in St. Paul for one year. She later was employed as a secretary at the University of Minnesota's Law School.
Janice was joined in holy marriage to Louis Kruse June 18, 1966, at Trinity First Lutheran Church in rural Sanborn. God blessed their marriage with a daughter.
She was a faithful member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Winsted.
Janice enjoyed painting, knitting, fishing, baking cookies, and playing with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by a sister, Gail Erickson.
Janice is survived by her husband, Louis W. Kruse; a daughter Mary Jo (Thomas) Horstmann of Winsted; grandchildren: Ryan and Kristin Horstmann; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Irma (Wallace) Bierman of Jeffers, Fern Kruse of Watertown, S.D., Luvern (Esther) Kruse of Pipestone, Herb (Arlene) Kruse of Clarkfield, and Delbert (Geraldine) Kruse of Stillwater; a great aunt, Frieda Fennern of Springfield; nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Janice Kruse were Friday, Oct. 12 at 2 p.m. at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church. The Rev. Gerald L. Boldt officiated, and interment followed at the Winsted Public Cemetery.
Kay Gueningsman was the organist. "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," "How Great Thou Art," and "Savior, Again to Your Dear Name" were sung as congregational hymns.
Friends called at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted Thursday, Oct. 11, from 5 to 9 p.m. A prayer service took place Thursday evening at 8 p.m.
Gerard Plendl, Emil "Stretch" Tmka, Richard Whipple, Kevin Kruse, Curt Kruse and Lowell Bierman served as casket bearers.
The Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted served the family.
