Lillie Bertha Lampher
Lillie Bertha (Breyer) Lampher, age 96, of Lester Prairie, passed away Wed. May 9, 2001, at St. Mary's Care Center, Winsted. Lillie reached the age of 96 years, two months, and one day.
She was born the daughter of Ernst and Emma (Kuhlmann) Breyer on March 8, 1905, in Bergen Township, McLeod County.
Lillie was baptized at St. Peter Lutheran Church, Bergen Township, April 2, 1905, and later, confirmed at the same church on May 4, 1919. She attended St. Peter Parochial School.
On May 6, 1926, Lillie was united in marriage with Edwin Lampher at St. Peter Lutheran Church.
Lillie and Edwin made their living by farming until 1963, when they moved to Lester Prairie.
A resident of the St. Mary's Care Center since the fall of 1998, Lillie enjoyed canning, sewing, and flower gardening. She was a hard worker, and loved having her grandchildren visit the farm.
Lillie is preceded in death by husband Edwin; her parents; grandson, Gordon Strei; son-in-law, Norman Olson; two sisters; and three brothers.
Lillie is survived by her children, Aurelia Strei (John) of Lester Prairie, Mildred Olson of Brooklyn Center, Wesley Lampher (Janice) of Hastings, Neb.; 11 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and sisters-in-law, Evelyn Fenske, Agnes Rolf, Rufina McCurdy, and Orbina Lampher.
Funeral services were Friday, May 1l, 2 p.m., at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel, Lester Prairie. Officiating was the Rev. Grant Bode of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lester Prairie.
The organist was Mary Huebert. The congregational hymns were "Rock Of Ages," "What A Friend We Have In Jesus," and "Just A Closer Walk With Thee." Interment was in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery, Lester Prairie.
Arrangements were with the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie.
