Cordella Lydia Josephine Latzig
Cordella Lydia Josephine Latzig, age 77 of rural Howard Lake, died Thursday morning, April 26, 2001, at the Buffalo Hospital.
She was born in New Germany on Jan. 31, 1924, the daughter of Herman and Ida Dummer Karels.
Cordella was baptized by the Rev. W. L. Ernst at St. John's Lutheran Church Hollywood Township, February 24, 1924. She was also instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith at St. John's Lutheran Church on March 21, 1937.
On May 21, 1942, Cordella and Allen Latzig were joined in holy marriage in Estherville, Iowa.
Cordella was a faithful member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Middleville Township, Wright County, and belonged to the Lutheran Women's Missionary League.
She also enjoyed reading.
Survivors include her husband Allen; sons, Gene (Sharon) Latzig and Jerroll (Laura) Latzig, all of Howard Lake; grandchildren, Robert Latzig, Troy (Tammy) Latzig, Heather (Jeff) Latzig Zvorak, Briana (Chris) Jacobs and Angela (Nate) Krummel; and great-grandchildren, Tabatha and Brandon Latzig.
Cordella is further survived by a sister Viola (Charles) Ohm of Litchfield; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Deloris Karels of Lester Prairie, Marvin (Lila) Latzig of Hutchinson, Erland (Dorothy) Latzig of Winsted and Virgil (Ruth) Latzig of Lester Prairie; nieces, nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
Cordella was preceded in death by two children: DuWayne and Gale; her parents; an infant brother, Herbert; sisters, Esther Gatz, Hilda Roepke and Edna Meilke; and brothers, Marvin Karels, Elmer Karels, Harold Karels and Walter Karels.
Funeral services were Monday, April 30, 10:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Middleville Township. The Rev. Leland D. Bendix officiated and interment followed at Highland Lutheran Cemetery.
Friends called at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.
Ruth Goerke was the organist. "Amazing Grace-How Sweet the Sound," "What a Friend We Have in Jesus," and "I Know that My Redeemer Lives" were sung as congregational hymns.
Robert Latzig, Jeff Zvorak, Troy Latzig, Chris Jacobs, Roger Ohm and Nathan Krummel served as the casket bearers.
The Peterson Chapel in Buffalo served the family.
