Avis Mae Milhausen
Avis Mae Milhausen, age 55, of Waverly, passed away peacefully Aug. 21, 2001, at her home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Avis was born Dec. 3, 1945, to Walter and Marion (Haja) Kjono in Fergus Falls. She grew up in Pelican Rapids, attending school both there and in Verndale.
She worked in Minneapolis as a dancer before moving to Waverly. There she worked with dogs, first raising and breeding, then moved on to grooming and training.
She enjoyed snowmobiling, gardening, and boating. She was active in 4-H, the Lake Association, Waverly Boosters, and the Waverly Winter Wanderers.
Avis was preceded in death by her father and her former husband, Robert Milhausen.
She is survived by daughters, Tina (Larry) Notch of Plymouth, Theresa (Rob) Christensen of Cokato, and son, Travis (fiance Lisa) Milhausen of Waverly; grandchildren, Miranda and Donevan; life partner, Keith Decker of Waverly, mother Marion Kjono; and many relatives and friends.
A memorial service took place Saturday, Aug. 25, at St. John's Lutheran Church, Howard Lake.
