Marie Anna Ochu
Marie Anna Ochu, age 96 and a life-long Winsted resident, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2001 at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
She was born July 31, 1905 in Winsted, the daughter of Peter and Theresia Meuleners. Marie graduated from Watertown High School.
Marie Meuleners and Eugene Ochu were joined in holy marriage Sept. 12, 1945. Marie and Gene owned and operated Ochu Implement Company in Winsted for 55 years.
Marie was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. She also belonged to the CCW, and to the St. Anne's Society.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Elizabeth Schlagel; and five brothers, Comelius "Caley," Alphonse "Bounce," Vincent "Doc," Edgar, and Leonard "Pete" Meuleners.
She is survived by her husband, Gene Ochu of Winsted; children, Jeanie Ochu and Mark Ochu, both of St. Cloud; a sister-in-law, Florence Mealeners of Fergus Falls; other relatives and friends.
A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial for Marie Ochu was Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2 p.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted.
The Rev. Ambrose J. Mahon and the Rev. Gerald E. Keefe were the Concelebrants. Interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Musicians for the Mass were Mark Ochu and Marion Judish. Readers were Rosanne Hertel, Mary Wiemiller, Mary Jo Meuleners, and Nurianne Tomas.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
