Verona A. Peterson, 79
Verona A. Peterson, age 70, of Chandler, Ariz. and formerly
of Lester Prairie passed away Nov. 17, 2001 in Tempe, Ariz.
Verona Antonia Peterson was born the daughter of Hartwig
and Martha (Voss) Schlueter July 12, 1931 in Cologne. Verona was baptized
in Cologne in 1931. The Rev. R. A. Ritz confirmed her in 1944 at St. Paul’s
Lutheran Church.
Verona attended and graduated from Lester Prairie High
School. Verona was united in marriage with Einer Peterson Aug. 2, 1949 by
the Rev. R. A. Riztz at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Lester Prairie.
The couple lived in various places throughout their lives
such as Rockford, Ill; Scottsdale, Ariz; St. Louis Park, and the most recent
was in Chandler.
As a child, Verona liked playing with her paper dolls and
playing softball with friends. She loved spending time with her family,
and she enjoyed reading, watching baseball and basketball games, and also
gardening.
Verona is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Einer;
and brother, Virgil Schlueter.
She is survived by her children, Cheryl (Terry) Koenig
of Tempe, Ariz., Jerome (Patricia) Peterson of Circle Pines, Minn., Colleen
Peterson of Chandler, Ariz.; grandchildren, Steven (Heather) Hester of Mesa,
Ariz, Michael Hester of Tempe, Ariz., and Brian Peterson and Amy Peterson,
both of Circle Pines, Minn; sister-in-law, Ruth McKay of Hutchinson; many
nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services for Verona A. Peterson was Sunday, Nov.
25, 2001, at 1:30 p.m., at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Lester Prairie. Officiating
was the Rev. Grant Bode.
Jane Holasek was organist, and the congregational hymns
were “How Great Thou Art,” “In the Garden,” “What
a Friend We Have in Jesus,” and “Rock of Ages.”
Serving as casketbearers were Richard Voss, Roger Voss,
Alan Schlueter, Jack Smith, James McKay, and Ronald McKay.
Visitation was Saturday evening from 4 to 7 p.m. at the
Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel, Lester Prairie.
Interment was in the St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery in Lester
Prairie.
