Helen Elizabeth Prehn
Helen Elizabeth Prehn, age 95 of Winsted, died Monday,
Jan. 22, 2001.
Helen was born Feb. 13, 1905, to Fred and Rose (Stang)
Bunt at St. Cloud. She grew up in St. Cloud as the oldest of 10 children,
and graduated from St. Cloud Teachers College (now St. Cloud State University)
in 1925.
Helen married Henry J. Prehn Nov. 27, 1929, at St. Cloud.

After their marriage, Helen and her husband moved to Winsted
where they owned and operated Prehn Motor Company for 40 years, until their
retirement in 1970. The company was the franchise dealer for General Motors
automobiles and Minneapolis Moline farm equipment.
Helen is survived by her daughter, Donna Marie Luther and
husband, Richard, of Wayzata; a granddaughter, Sarah Jane Lundeen and husband,
George, of Minneapolis; a brother, Norbert Bunt of Temecula, Calif.; sisters,
Melinda Stockwell of Oceanside, Calif.; and Henrietta Trettel of Minneapolis;
and many loving nieces, nephews, godchildren, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Henry, who died
Dec. 26, 1985; and a son, Fred, born Aug. 22, 1935, who died May 25, 1936.
A prayer service took place at Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted,
Thursday, Jan. 25, 7 p.m., with the Rev. Paul L. Wolf officiating.
Helen was a member of St. Anne’s Society and Holy Family
Council #204, which prayed a combined rosary at 4:30 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 26, at Church of the
Most Holy Trinity, Winsted. The Revs. Wolf and Edward L. Wojtowicz were
concelebrants. Lynn Rose Millerbernd Fast was the soloist, and Lavon Kielkucki
was the organist. Interment was at Calvary Cemetery, St. Cloud, with Monsignor
Donald Tauscher, OSB officiating.
Honorary pallbearers were Clifford Zimmermann of Howard
Lake, Kenneth Zimmermann of Winsted, Clayton Helinske of Howard Lake, and
William Luther of Stillwater.
Pallbearers were Loren Zimmerman of Howard Lake, Gordon
Zimmerman of Owatonna, Jerome Horstmann of Winsted, Dennis Trettel of Rochester,
Jeffrey Lander of Edina, and Robert Luther of Eden Prairie.
