Muriel Ramthun, age 59, of Montrose, died Friday, May 25, at the Ridgeview Medical Center, Waconia, following a valiant 15-year battle against cancer.
Muriel was born in Waverly March 24, 1942, the daughter of Herbert and Helen Mahlstedt Duske. She was baptized by the Rev. F. R. Weyland, May 17, 1942, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Montrose.
She was instructed in the Lutheran Catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith by the Rev. Alvin Schulz July 1, 1956, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Montrose. In 1960, Muriel graduated from Howard Lake High School.
Muriel Duske and James Ramthun were joined in holy marriage on November 18, 1961, at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Montrose. God blessed their marriage with three daughters.
Muriel was a faithful member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, Crawford Lake. She belonged to the Ladies Aid and was a longtime Sunday School teacher.
For the last several years, she was active in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life Walk.
Survivors include husband, Jim Ramthun; daughters, Ronda (Dale) Bauman of Montrose, Michelle (Bruce) Burns of Annandale, and Brenda (Todd) Halstead of St. Bonifacius; six grandsons, Matthew and Joshua Bauman, Jamie and Kasey Burns, and Andrew and Luke Halstead; sisters and brothers, Carol (Orville) Horsch of Waverly, Stanley (Karen) Duske, Ardis Mauk and Norman (Joel) Duske, all of Montrose, Clifford (Wendy) Duske and Keith (Kathy) Duske, all of Waverly; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Darlene (Willard "Willie") Knop of Annandale, Glen (Jan) Ramthun of Bloomington and Gloria (Dick) Pageau of Montrose; many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.
Muriel was preceded in death by her parents, Herb and Helen Duske, and by a brother-in-law, Ellsworth Mauk.
Funeral Services for Muriel Ramthun were Tuesday, May 29,
2 p.m., at St. Paul's Evangelical Lutheran Church, in Montrose.
The Rev. Robert J. Hellmann officiated at the funeral service, and interment followed at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Crawford Lake.
Friends called at the Peterson Chapel, Buffalo, on May 28, from 4-8 p.m. and a Prayer Service was conducted Monday, May 28, at 7:30 p.m.
Elliot Epple was the organist for the funeral service. "Children of the Heavenly Father" and "On Eagles' Wings" were sung as congregational hymns.
Paul Horsch, Scott Duske, Joe Mauk, Greg Duske, Terry Knop, and Doug Duske served as the casket bearers.
The Peterson Chapel, Buffalo, served the family.
