Mary Rose Richter
Mary Rose Richter, age 83, of Norwood Young America, entered her eternal rest Wednesday, May 23, 2001, at the Waconia Good Samaritan Center at the age of 83 years, five months, and 19 days.
Mary Rose (Knott) Richter was born December 4, 1917 in Hollywood Township, Carver County, the daughter of Christ and Martha (Sterner) Knott. She was baptized December 12, 1917 at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Winsted, by the Rev. Rinke, and received her First Communion on May 31, 1931, at the same church.
Mary grew up on her fathers farm in Hollywood Township and attended Holy Trinity Catholic School in Winsted.
She was united in marriage to Francis (Frank) L. Richter at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Winsted October 30, 1940. The couple made there home in the Young America area, where they farmed. Mary and Frank left the farm in 1967 and moved to Norwood.
Mary was active in the Youngwood 4-H club. As a longtime member at Ascension Catholic Church, she served as an Altar and Rosary Society member and was a Sacristan.
She enjoyed her work for many years as a waitress in her son's restaurant and she loved to travel. She also enjoyed belonging the the Senior Citizens group.
Mary is preceded in death by husband, Frank in 1979; her parents; brothers, Lawrence Knott and Leander Knott; and sister, Esther Knott.
Survivors include her daughters and son, Barbara (Lynis) Lehrke of Hamburg, Joyce (Robert) Schmidt of Maplewood, and James (Donna) Richter of Norwood Young America; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two brothers and one sister, Norbert Knott of New Germany, Albert (Mary Kay) Knott of St. Cloud, and Odella (Marvin) Vollrath of Cohasset, Minn.; two sisters-in-law, Rosalie Knott of New Germany and Margaret O'Reilley of Waconia; as well as other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial was conducted for Mary Rose Richter on Friday, May 25, 2001, 10:30 a.m., at the Ascension Catholic Church in Norwood Young America, with the Rev. Paul Ardolf officiating.
The organist was Marilee Widmer and the hymns were "Here I Am Lord," "Hail Mary, Gentle Woman," "Servant Song," and "The Strife is O'er."
Casket bearers were Randy Knott, David Knott, Russell Schmidt, Daniel Schmidt, William Richter, Kerry Klaustermeier, and Mathew Urness.
Visitation with a Parish Prayer Service was Thursday evening at the McBride Funeral Chapel, Norwood Young America. Interment was in the church cemetery.
