Charles Michael Rolf

Funeral services for Charles Michael Rolf, age 44 of Lester Prairie, were Thursday, Feb. 1, at the Ev. United Church of Christ, Lester Prairie. Charles died Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at his residence.

Charles was born Sept. 16, 1956, in Glencoe, the son of Roland and Lucille (Ide) Rolf. He was baptized Sept. 30, 1956, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Lester Prairie, by the Rev. Erb. He was confirmed at the same church by the Rev. N. Steinke April 4, 1971.

Chuck attended and graduated from Lester Prairie High School.

On Aug. 27, 1978, Chuck was united in marriage to Gail (Ehrke) at the Ev. United Church of Christ, Lester Prairie, by the Revs. Martens and Wind.

Chuck attended Willmar Vocational School for two years, and was employed as the manager of computer programmers at LifeTouch Photo at the time of his death.

A member of the Lester Prairie Fire Dept. and Rescue Squad, Chuck was very involved in the Lester Prairie community. He was a member of the Lester Prairie Boosters Club and coached youth basketball, baseball, and softball.

An active member of the Ev. United Church of Christ, Chuck served on the church council, as chairman of the Search Committee, was a group leader, and went on a mission trip to Puerto Rico.

He thrived on the support andcompany of his extended family and his great friends.

Chuck enjoyed golfing, reading, youth coaching, computers, and snowmobiling. He especially adored spending time with his wife of 22 years, Gail, son, Christopher, and daughter, Nichole.

At the time of his death, Charles had reached the age of 44 years, four months, and 13 days.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

Charles is survived by his wife Gail, children, Christopher and Nichole, and parents, Roland and Lucille Rolf, all of Lester Prairie; brothers and sister, Monica Watry (husband, Herb) of Litchfield; Ronald Rolf (wife, Pam) of Fishers, Ind., and Wade Rolf (wife, Tamra) of Hutchinson; father- and mother-in-law, Clarence and Ramona Ehrke, and sister-in-law, Julie Hoof (husband, James), all of Lester Prairie; nieces and nephews: Kristin Watry, John Watry, Nicholas Watry, Haley Rolf, Josiah Rolf, Jodi Hoof, and JaNaye Hoof; and other relatives and friends.

The Rev. John Hogue officiated at the 2 p.m. funeral services. Organist was Diane Anderson. Congregational hymns were "Softly and Tenderly" and "Just As I Am." James Ide sang "The Lord's Prayer," and Marcia Dummer sang "Amazing Grace." Interment was in the Lester Prairie City Cemetery.

Serving as casket bearers were Gordon Birkholz Jr., Douglas Birkholz, Robert Birkholz, Ronald Foust, Joseph Radtke, Dale Anderson, Dale Dietel, Keith Latzke, David Baumann, Dan Heiraas, and Robert Remer.

Visitation took place Wednesday, Jan. 31, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel, Lester Prairie.
