Bertha Joanne Snaza
Bertha Joanne Snaza, age 92, of Silver Lake, passed away Sept. 5, 2001,
at the Hutchinson Hospital.
Bertha was born Feb. 5, 1909 in Silver Lake to Stephen and Elizabeth
Shimanski Pilarski. She attended country school through the eighth grade,
and later went to the Twin Cities to do housekeeping.
Bertha was united in marriage to James Snaza, Sr., June 24, 1929, at
St. Adalbert’s Catholic Church, Silver Lake.
Bertha was a homemaker and a nurse’s aid. She was a member of Holy Family
Catholic Church, the Rosary Society, and CCW.
Bertha enjoyed playing cards, bingo, and doing embroidery.
She lived in her own home until Sept. 2000, when she moved in with her
daughter, Joan, until passing.
Bertha was preceded in death by her parents; husband, James, Sr.; sons,
James, Jr. and Reverian; and brothers, Phil, Clifford, Leo, Louie, and David
Pilarski.
She is survived by daughters, Joan Goranowski of Silver Lake, Betty Snaza
of Minneapolis, Lois Smida and husband Glenn of Winsted, daughter-in-law,
Audrey Snaza of Minneapolis; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren;
brother, Stanley Pilarski and wife, Verna, of Silver Lake and sister, Helen
Vacek of Silver Lake.
Funeral services were Saturday, Sept. 8, 2001, 10:30 a.m., at the Church
of the Holy Family, Silver Lake, with the Rev. Robert Mraz officiating.
Alice Nowak was the organist, Donald Smida, Virgil Vacek, Kevin Snaza,
Phil Pilarski, Charles Goranowski, and Phillip Biczkowski served as casketbearers.
Interment was at St. Adalbert Cemetery, Silver Lake.
Arrangements were made by Maresh Funeral Home, Silver Lake.
