Wallace G. Splettstoeszer
Wallace G. Splettstoeszer, age 77 of Watertown, died Wednesday,
Feb. 28, 2001, at Methodist Hospital, St. Louis Park.
Wallace was born May 19, 1923, at Camden Township, Carver
County, Minn., the son of Clarence A. and Lydia W. (Dummer) Splettstoeszer.
He was baptized June 10, 1923, at Zion Lutheran Church, Mayer, by the Rev.
F. W. Erthal; and confirmed March 21, 1937, at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church,
Watertown Township, by the Rev. Karl Rudolph.
On Nov. 6, 1945, Wallace married Doris E. Taylor at Mt.
Olive Lutheran Church, Mound, by the Rev. Martin E. Pape. Wallace and Doris
lived in Mound, Lyndale, and finally, settled down in Watertown.
Wallace worked as a machinist at J. R. Clark Company, Spring
Park, for most of his career, and later, at Phillips Manufacturing. He was
very gifted and talented at working with his hands.
He loved working on his Model A cars, and in later years,
restoring, refinishing, and finishing a 1930 Model A Coupe, which he took
to several parades and car shows where he won ribbons and trophies.
He also enjoyed listening to Old Time music, snowmobiling
with good friends, going to the Butterfield Threshing Show, camping with
family and the Good Sam Camping Club, fishing at the cabin with family,
and especially, teaching his grandchildren how to fish.
Wallace was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence
and Lydia Splettstoeszer; a brother, Vernon Splettstoeszer; father- in-law
and mother-in-law, Carl and Martha Taylor; and brothers-in-law, Gerald Backlund,
Edgar Lindner, and Willard Pawelk.
He is survived by his wife Doris; daughter and son-in-law,
Shirley and Larry Segner of Maple Plain; and grandchildren, Mark Segner,
and Kristi Segner.
Wallace is further survived by sisters and brothers-in-law,
Bernice and Marvin Leistiko of Waconia, Gladys and Earl Taylor of Maple
Plain; and Delores and Duane Skochenski of Mound; brother and sister-in-law,
Clarence and Nancy Splettstoeszer of Hamel; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law,
Bernice Pawelk, and Adeline and Glennard Pawelk, all of Hutchinson; nieces,
nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were Saturday, March 3, 11 a.m, at St.
Peter’s Lutheran Church, Watertown Township, with the Rev. Jay Klein officiating.
Interment was at Lewis Cemetery, Maple Plain.
Casket bearers were James Becklund, Melvin Kirchenwitz,
Robert Leistiko, Roger Leistiko, Raymond Pavlish, and Mitz Pitschneider.

The Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia, handled the arrangements.

Wallace G. Splettstoeszer, age 77 of Watertown, died Wednesday,
