Geraldine “Gerry” Wackler
Geraldine “Gerry” Wackler, 76, of Missoula, Mont.,
passed away of pulmonary fibrosis Monday, July 9, 2001, at St. Patrick Hospital,
Missoula, Mont.
Gerry was born March 22, 1926, in Mason City, Ill., the
daughter of Alvin J. and Jennie W. Shipp.
Gerry graduated from Mason City High School in 1943. She
married the Rev. M. E. Wackler in 1948.
A beloved mother and grandmother, she will be remembered
by many friends of all ages for her fun-loving nature and her giving spirit.
She was a self-declared “people person” and it showed in her words
and deeds.
Her family remembers her as the one who devoted her life
to each and every one of them and as the one who was always there, in good
times and bad.
Her sons and daughter especially will remember her as the
mother every child should be fortunate enough to have been blessed with.
Gerry was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Jennie
Shipp; brother, Leon Shipp; son, Jon Wackler, and mother-in-law and father-in-law,
Ed and Frances Wackler of Howard Lake.
She is survived by her husband, the Rev. M. E. Wackler
of Missoula, Mont.; four sons, Daniel Wackler of Eugene, Ore., Joseph Wackler
of Soldotna, Alaska, and Thomas and Timothy Wackler, both of Missoula, Mont.;
daughter, Jane Curtis of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho; 15 grandchildren and one
great-grandchild.
Services were conducted Friday, July 20, 11 a.m., at Messiah
Lutheran Church, where the Rev. John Wackler officiated.
A reception at the church followed the services. Committal
services took place at the family plot in Mason City, Ill.
