Darlene Ann Walker
Darlene Ann Walker, age 53 of Rockford, died Sunday, March
4, 2001, at her residence.
Darlene was born in Glencoe Sept. 28, 1947, the daughter
of Dwayne and Shirley (Teubert) Schrupp. She was baptized at the Bergen
Lutheran Church July 3, 1948, by the Rev. LuVerne Nelson. She was instructed
in the Lutheran catechism and confirmed in the Christian faith June 24,
1962 at Christ Lutheran Church, Glencoe, by the Rev. Don Severson.
On March 19, 1976, Darlene was joined in holy marriage
to Richard L. Walker in Crystal.
On Feb. 14, 1993, Darlene dedicated her life to the Lord
at the Rockford Baptist Church.
Darlene was a former cook at Jan’s Cafe, Rockford, and
at the Rockford Gardens. Most recently, she had been employed at Gage Marketing,
and for the past month and one-half, found help and peace at the Bethseda
Rehab Center.
Darlene is survived by her husband Richard; children: Tony
A. (Lisa) Schroeder of Delano, Troy J. (Brenda) Schroeder of Rockford, Debbie
A. (Nathan “Jamie”) Buoy of Rockford, and Dawn M. Walker of Rockford
and fiance, Brian McAlpin.
She is further survived by her grandchildren, Nathan and
Kira, Trevor, Jordan, and Katelin; and Amanda and Timothy; her mother-in-law,
Eleanor Walker of St. Paul; and many other relatives and friends.
Welcoming Darlene to Heaven were her parents; a brother,
Larry Schrupp; her grandmother Thea Teubert; and her father-in-law, Thomas
D. Walker.
Funeral services were Friday, March 9, 11 a.m., at Bethel
Lutheran Church, Lester Prairie, with the Rev. Sherri Sandoz officiating.
Interment followed at the Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery, Bergen Township.
Cheryl Jakobitz was the organist. “The Light of the
World is Jesus,” “Amazing Grace! How Sweet the Sound,” and
“How Great Thou Art” were sung as congregational hymns. The Rev.
Phillip and Kathleen Markel sang “In The Garden.”
Mary Lou Kleinschmidt, Gloria Roush, Jane Teubert, and
Larry Roush served as honorary casket bearers.
Albert “Sonny” Teubert, Eugene Teubert, Paul
Teubert, Peter Teubert, Andy Teubert, and Joel Teubert served as casket
bearers.
Friends called at the Peterson Chapel, Buffalo, on Thursday,
March 8 from 4 to 9 p.m. The Rev. Phillip Markel officiated at a 7 p.m.
prayer service.
The Peterson Chapel, Buffalo, served the family.
