Lawrence J. Weiland
Lawrence J. Weiland, age 87, of Mound, passed away Monday,
Dec. 24, 2001, at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
Lawrence was born Sept. 7, 1914 at Minnetrista Township,
Hennepin County, the son of Andrew and Emma (Kramer) Weiland. He was baptized
and confirmed at St. Boniface Catholic Church in St. Bonifacius.
He was united in marriage to Verna M. Ebert at St. Boniface
Catholic Church May 15, 1945, by the Rev. Karl Wohlfort.
Lawrence was a WWII veteran and belonged to the James Weiland
American Legion Post in St. Bonifacius. In addition, he was also a member
of the St. Boniface Catholic Aid Society.
He farmed his entire lifetime on the Weiland Homestead,
and was called “Bing” as a nickname. He was loved by all who knew
him, and he had a wonderful sense of humor and liked to play practical jokes.
Lawrence was preceded in death by his daughters, Carol
Ann Weiland and Diane Bernice Weiland; parents, Andrew and Emma Weiland;
sister, Emma Weiland; brothers, Andrew, Henry, Peter, James, Walter, and
Albert Weiland.
He is survived by his wife, Verna; children and spouses,
Lawrence and Judy Weiland of Tuscon, Ariz., Rose and Jim Jessen of Mound,
Bill and Meredith Weiland of Watertown, Joe and Darlene Weiland of Mound,
Laurie Priebe of St. Bonifacius.
He is further survived by grandchildren, Michelle and Scott
Melichar, Tim Jessen, Chad Weiland, Jennifer Jessen, Jeremy Jessen, Eric
Jessen, Lisa and Joe Gesinger, Amy Weiland and fiancee Brian Yale, Sara
Weiland, Ryan Weiland, Mercedes Priebe, Akasha Priebe; sister and brother-in-law,
Martha and Francis Salden of Las Vegas, Nev.
Lawrence was also survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law,
Vernice Weiland of Waconia, Bernice Weiland of St. Bonifacius, Virginia
Weiland of Waconia, Betty Weiland of Coos Bay, Ore., Bernice and Bill Volkenant
of Maple Plain, Elaine Stelten of Chaska, Muriel and Clarence Wickenhauser
of Cologne, Leonore and Gilbert Walter of Cologne, Lloyd and Ruth Ebert
of Watertown, Kathy Ebert of Delano; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and
friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial took place Thursday, Dec. 27,
2001, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Boniface Catholic Church, St. Bonifacius, and
the Legion stood guard and conducted military graveside services for Lawrence.
The Rev. James T. Livingston officiated.
Interment was at St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery, St. Bonifacius.
Tim Jessen, Chad Weiland, Jeremy Jessen, Eric Jessen, Ryan
Weiland, and Kenneth Weiland served as casketbearers.
Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia, served the family.
