Margaret C. Willard
Margaret C. Willard, age 92, of Brainerd and formerly of New Germany,
died Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2001, at the Bethany Good Samaritan Village, Brainerd.
Margaret was born Feb. 19, 1909, at Boone, Iowa, the daughter of William
R. and Catherine M. (Hasstedt) Day. She was baptized May 2, 1909, in Boone,
Iowa, by the Rev. Erbe, and confirmed April 9, 1922, at St. Paul’s Lutheran
Church, Fairmont, by the Rev. O. H. Zemke.
Margaret married Clarence “Pete” Willard in Blue Earth, May
22, 1927.
Margaret is preceded in death by her husband, Pete Willard; parents,
William and Catherine Day; brothers, Rufus, Leno, and Kenneth Day; sisters-in-law,
Emma and Helen Day; son-in-law Velmer Thiesse.
She is survived by children and spouses, Dennis and Belva Willard of
Brainerd, Arla Mae and James Kubasch of New Germany, Jim and Audrey Willard
of Monticello, Shirley Thiesse of Fairmont; grandchildren, Jerry, Dan, Tom,
Todd, Sherry, Jim, Gary, Travis, Jason, Janelle, Patricia, and Robert; 21
great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She is further survived by sisters-in-law, Evelyn Ericksrud of Blue Earth,
Frieda Willard of Fairmont, Esther Willard of Winnebago, Ann Willard of
Oxnard, Calif.; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Funeral services were conducted Friday, Aug. 31, 2001, 11 a.m., at St.
John’s Lutheran Church, Hollywood Twp, New Germany with the Rev. Ronald
Mathison officiating.
Interment was at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery.
Grandsons, Dan Thiesse, Todd Thiesse, Robert Willard, Gary Kubasch, Travis
Kubasch, and Jason Kubasch served as casketbearers.
Arrangements were made by Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia.
