Rose Catherine Workman
Rose Catherine Workman, age 86 of California, and formerly
of Montrose, died Saturday, Feb. 3, 2001, in Vacaville, Calif., following
a long illness.
Funeral services were Feb. 9 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church,
Vacaville, with the Rev. Benedict Delon officiating. Interment followed
at the Vacaville-Elmira Cemetery.
A native of Montrose, Minn., Rose was born April 27, 1915.
She was the youngest daughter, one of 10 children born to Maggie and Simon
Sochnik.
Rose married Ervin Workman of Howard Lake, in 1946. As
an Air Force wife, she made a home for her family in Hawaii, Massachusetts,
England, and other places.
When her husband retired from the Travis Air Force Base,
California, in 1963, they settled in Vacaville.
Rose was active in St. Mary’s social and voluntary functions,
including working with mentally handicapped children. Her passion for and
excellence at ballroom dancing will be fondly remembered by her family.
Rose is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara
and Ralph Jaeck of Reno, Nev.; and Mary and Joseph Kelly of Fair Oaks, Calif.;
a son, Thomas Workman of Vacaville; grandson, Morgan Jaeck of Sparks, Nev.;
granddaughters, Sarah Jaeck of Reno, and Lauren Rose Kelly, of Fair Oaks;
great-grandson, Owen Jaeck of Sparks; sisters-in-law, Marilyn Soshnik of
Delano, and Dorothy Mitchell and Elaine Workman, both of Howard Lake.
Rose’s nine brothers and sisters, and her husband, Ervin
Workman, who died in 1991, preceded her in death.
Memorial contributions may be made in Rose’s memory to
Notre Dame Parochial School, 1781 Marshall Rd., Vacaville, CA 95687, or
