Vernice Loretta Woyke
Vernice Loretta Woyke, age 85 of Annandale, died Monday,
Jan. 22, 2001, at Buffalo Hospital.
Funeral services were Thursday, Jan. 25, 2 p.m., at Zion
Lutheran Church, Annandale, with the Rev. Thomas Queck officiating. Music
was by Kathy Queck. Burial followed in Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale.
Friends called at Zion Lutheran Church Wednesday, Jan.
24, from 4 to 8 p.m., and after 8 a.m. on the day of the funeral service.
There was a prayer service Wednesday, 7 p.m., at the church.
Vernice was born June 4, 1915, in Hale Township, McLeod
County, to the late William and Lena (Trottman) Schmieg.
She married Ernest C. Woyke June 28, 1933, in Winsted.
Ernest preceded Vernice in death Aug. 14, 1970.
Vernice lived in Annandale for 40 years, where she was
a homemaker. She also operated a poultry farm, retiring in 1980.
A member of Zion Lutheran Church, Annandale, she was a
charter member of the Zion Busy Needles.
For the past six years, Vernice lived in Buffalo.
She loved her family, church, quilting, crocheting, sewing,
and crafts.
Vernice is survived by her sons, daughters, and their spouses:
Eldon and wife, Joan, of Kimball; Priscilla McKenzie and husband, Gary,
of Buffalo; Theodore and wife, Sandy, of Annandale; and Lee Ann Winkelman
and husband, Douglas, of Cokato; a sister, Alice Wolfsteller and husband,
Carl, of Howard Lake; 15 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Ernest, Vernice was preceded
in death by her parents; a daughter, Darline Koplen; and a brother, Raymond
Schmieg.
Dale Woyke, Patrick Manuel, DeJay and KaCee McKenzie, Jess
Woyke, Todd, Mark, and Jim Winkelman, and Peter and Christopher Hommerding
served as casket bearers.
Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale, handled the arrangements.
