Orville S. Yager
Orville S. Yager, age 82, of Watertown passed away Thursday, June 21, 2001, at Presbyterian Homes, Spring Park.
Orville was born January 12, 1919, in Watertown, the son of George and Estelle (Colburn) Yager. He was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church, Watertown.
He graduated from Watertown High School in 1937. After high school, Orville entered the army. He was with the military for a total of 28 years, one month, and 26 days.
Orville was united in holy marriage to Eleanor J. Jolicoeur April 22, 1944, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Waverly, by the Rev. Charles M. Morgan.
Orville was a member of the Watertown American Legion and was a past commander of the organization. He loved to go hunting, fishing and, in general, was an avid outdoorsman. He was also on the maintenance committee at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Watertown.
Orville was preceded in death by his son, Charles; parents, George and Estelle Yager; brother and sister-in-law, George and Joyce Yager; and his grandparents.
He is survived by his wife, Eleanor; son and daughter-in-law, John and Marvel Yager of Bloomington; grandchildren, Andrea Yager, Victoria Yager, and Laura Yager; brother-in-law, Robert Lorenz of Minnetonka; and nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Orville S. Yager was conducted Monday, June 25, at 9 a.m., at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Watertown, with the Rev. Frank Wampach officiating.
Interment was at the National Cemetery at Fort Snelling. The American Legion attended the funeral as a group to pay their respects to Orville. In addition, a military graveside service was conducted at the cemetery.
Arrangements were made by the Johnson Funeral Home, Waconia.
