Muriel Edith Bravinder
Muriel Edith Bravinder, age 80, went to her eternal home with the Lord Jesus Christ May 19, 2002.
Muriel was born Feb. 12, 1922 in Minneapolis to Walter and Edith (Lofgren) Lindquist. She grew up in the Minneapolis area.
Muriel was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. She attended school and graduated from Roosevelt High School with the class of 1940. After graduation, Muriel attended Augsburg College.
Muriel married Robert Bravinder May 23, 1942 in Minneapolis at Trinity Lutheran Church. Muriel worked at Honeywell for a period of time and then went to Seattle to be with Robert, who was serving in the United States Navy. While Robert went overseas with the Navy, Muriel moved home to Minnesota to live with Robert's parents until his discharge in 1945.
God blessed this marriage with five children. The family moved often when the children were young. They lived in St. Louis Park, Minnetonka, Richfield, Fergus Falls, Sheldon, Iowa; and Howard Lake. In 1982, Robert and Muriel, along with their daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Alfonso, purchased and managed Rocky Point Resort on Lake Kabetogama. They then moved to International Falls and managed a motel there until retirement in 1987.
Robert and Muriel wintered in Weslaco, Texas, and spent summers on Lake Kabetogama, and in Howard Lake. In 1995, they moved to Howard Lake. After Robert's passing away in 1998, Muriel resided with her daughter, Chris, until moving to Cokato in 1999.
Muriel enjoyed fishing, spending time at the lake, needlepoint, knitting, traveling, and spending precious time with her grandchildren. Muriel played piano and loved music. She was a very active member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the LWML, and the Cokato and Howard Lake Senior Centers.
Muriel was preceded in death by her parents, husband Robert, and infant brother.
She is survived by her children, Robert (JoAnne), Christine (Alfonso) Correa, Mary (Frank) Pilant, Dan (Becky), and Paul (Laura); eight grandchildren, Alfonso Robert, Derek, Jamie, Alicia, Andrea, Adam, Seth, and Paige; sisters, Delores Singer and Naomi Miller.
Funeral services were conducted Thursday, May 23, 2002, 2 p.m., at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Michael Nirva and the Rev. Martin Schoenfeld officiating.
