Cecelia Minnie Dietel
Cecelia Minnie Dietel, age 78, of Lester Prairie, died at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia Sunday, June 30, 2002.
Funeral services celebrating the life of Cecelia Dietel were at 10 a.m. Wednesday, July 3, 2002 at the Evangelical United Church of Christ in Lester Prairie. Officiating was the Rev. William J. Baldwin.
The organist was Marie Eischens and the soloist was Marvin Westermann who sang "Lasst mich gehn." The congregational hymns were "What A Friend We Have in Jesus" and "Nearer My God to Thee."
Serving as casketbearers were Henry Loebertmann, Sean Dietel, Kari Dietel, Eric Dietel, Brandon Ische, and Jeremiah Kern. The honorary casketbearers were the remaining grandchildren.
Interment was in the Peace Evangelical Cemetery in Bertha, Minn.
Visitation was held Tuesday evening at the Evangelical Church of Christ in Lester Prairie.
Cecelia was born the daughter of Oscar and Caroline (Michaelis) Thomas on Dec. 16, 1923 in Arlington, Minn. She was baptized Dec. 23, 1923 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Arlington.
Cecelia was later confirmed in her Lutheran faith on May 2, 1937 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Her confirmation verse was II Peter 3:18.
On Jan. 19, 1945, Cecelia was united in marriage to Elmer Dietel by the Rev. Bradtke at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Arlington.
During here lifetime, Cecelia has lived in Arlington, Plato, Silver Lake, Sauk Center, Brownton, and most recently, Lester Prairie.
In her spare time, Cecelia enjoyed traveling, corresponding with pen pals, quilting, playing cards, and spending time daily reading her Bible.
On Sunday, June 30, 2002, Cecelia M. Dietel entered her eternal rest at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia at the age of 78 years, 6 months, and 14 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant daughter, and grandchild, Mark Loebertmann, Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Elmer Dietel of Lester Prairie; children Lucy Kielte (husband Chuck) of Kimball, Minn., Roger Dietel (wife Sandy) of Arlington, Minn., Marian Musselman (husband Paul) of Hanover Park, Ill., Gary Dietel (wife Carol) of Glencoe, Minn., Gwendolyn Ische (husband Ivan) of Arlington, Minn., Barbara Kern (husband Clifford) of Lester Prairie, John Dietel of Silver Lake, Thomas Dietel of Gaylord, Minn., and Nicholas Dietel (wife Donna) of Winsted; 16 grandchildren, 4 step grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren; sister Doreen Swift (husband Robert) of Reno, Nev.; brother Lowell Thomas (wife Leona) of Clinton, Mo.; sister-in-laws Leona Schultz of Glencoe and Adella Rustad (husband Stanley) of Waconia; brother-in-law Raymond Dietel (wife Delores) of Lester Prairie; as well as other relatives and friends.
Arrangements were by Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie.
