Conrad William Ditmore
Conrad William Ditmore, age 87, of Bainbridge Island, Wash., and formerly of Howard Lake, died Oct. 4, 2002, at Messenger House Care Center.
He was born in Kenmare, N.D., July 13, 1915, to Wilmot and Effie (Stansberry) Ditmore.
Conrad graduated from Howard Lake High School. He had a wonderful singing voice and sang in the Minneapolis Men's Choir.
Conrad married June Van Nest in 1942 and entered military service during WWII serving in the Coast Guard in San Juan, Puerto Rico. In 1951, the family moved to Seattle, Wash.
Conrad worked as a marine-diesel engine sales manager for Hatch and Kirk in Ballard, traveling the Northwest from Oregon to Alaska.
In 1985, Conrad was united in marriage to Rhoda O'Malley. Upon retirement, he continued his leisure activities of golf, fishing, and reading. He moved to Bainbridge Island, in 1999.
Conrad is survived by his wife Rhoda of Bainbridge Island; three sons: Michael of Santa Barbara, Calif., Daniel of Roy, Wash., and Brian of Bainbridge Island, Wash.; daughter Sue Bunn of Bainbridge Island, Wash., brother John of Sauk Center, sister Margaret Barth of Howard Lake; 13 grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.
Memorial services were Oct. 20 at the home of Sue Bunn.
