Dick Duane Dobrava
Dick Duane Dobrava, age 46, of Glencoe, died Friday, March 1, 2002, at Glencoe Regional Health Services.
Dick was born in Glencoe June 4, 1955, to Donald and Lorraine (Oliva) Dobrava. He was baptized June 4, 1955, by the Rev. A. Fellwock. He was later confirmed in the Lutheran faith on March 30, 1969, at First Evangelical Lutheran Church by the Rev. Pohl. Dick went to the First Lutheran School through the eighth grade and than attended and graduated from Glencoe Senior High.
On Oct. 7, 1978, Dick was united in marriage to Ramona Martin at the Bethel Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, with the Rev. Donald Chapman officiating. The couple made their home in Glencoe and were members of Bethel Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie.
Dick spent the majority of his life working in the plumbing and heating business. He first started working with his father and grandfathers at Glencoe Plumbing and Heating. Later, in 1986, he and his brother, Dale, formed their own plumbing and heating business known as the Dobrava Brothers.
Dick especially enjoyed spending time with his family at the lake water skiing and fishing. He also took an interest in collecting coins and Pokeman cards with his two youngest sons. He liked to trap shoot out at the sportsman's club and work on cars in his garage. He always had the special gift of making everyone laugh by telling his great tales.
Preceding him in death were his infant sister, Barbara Dobrava; brother-in-law, Ronald Martin; paternal grandparents, Henry and Minnie Dobrava; and maternal grandparents, Fredrick and Elizabeth Oliva.
Surviving are his wife, Ramona, of Glencoe; sons, Dick Jr., Derrick, Jesse and Jacob Dobrava of Glencoe; parents, Don and Lorraine Dobrava of Glencoe; brother, Dale (Juliann) Dobrava of Glencoe; mother-in-law and father-in law, Roger and Jane Martin of Plato; nieces, Debra Dobrava and Melissa Martin; nephew, Douglas Dobrava; and sister-in-law, Eileen Horton of Glencoe; as well as many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Dick Duane Dobrava were held Monday, March 4, from Bethel Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, with the Rev. Sherri Sandoz officiating.
The organist was Cheryl Jakobitz, and a trio of Cathy Houg, Dawn Raguse, and Carol Wortz sang "Shall We Gather At The River." The congregational hymns were "How Great Thou Art," "Amazing Grace" and "Just As I Am."
Pallbearers were Dick Dobrava Jr., Derrick Dobrava, Douglas Dobrava, Dean Verch, Chuck Heiland, Rodney Schmidt, Cory Schiroo and Kurt Buhlmann The honorary pallbearers were Debra Dobrava, Jacob Dobrava, Jesse Dobrava, and Melissa Martin. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Arrangements were with the Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe.
