Kathleen Clements Drewelow
Kathleen Clements Drewelow, a Prineville, Ore. resident and former Waverly resident, passed away Friday, Dec. 27, 2002, at her home at the age of 95.
Kathleen was born July 6, 1907, in Waverly, the daughter of James C. and Ann Katherine (Borell) Clements. She married Reinhart C. Drewelow Oct. 1, 1929, in Waverly.
The family moved to Prineville in 1946 where they owned and operated a cattle ranch and grew potatoes in the Barnes Butte area.
She later worked as a nurses aide at Pioneer Memorial Hospital and retired in 1969. Reinhart passed away Aug. 19, 1970, in Prineville. She was a survivor of cancer, diabetes, and Bells Palsey.
Kathleen was a very active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, and was a member of the Alter Society, serving as president for 20 years. She was also a member of the Lady Elks Lodge, Eagles Lodge, Soroptomist Club, and was the Soroptomist Woman of the Year in 1984.
She was also a very active volunteer at Neat Repeat, Lookout Mountain Grange, AARP, and the American Cancer Society.
Kathleen enjoyed painting in oils and decoupage. At the age of 75, she started walking five miles every day. She was well-loved by her family and friends, and was known for her numerous acts of random kindness during her life.
Kathleen was preceded in death by her husband, parents, two brothers, and one sister.
She is survived by her son Dave Drewelow of La Jolla, Calif.; daughters Anne Andrus of Morrison, Colo., and Maxine Gillespie of Prineville and Annandale, Va., nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.
