Nettie Genevieve Eastling
Nettie Genevieve Eastling, age 81, of Cokato, died Thursday July 11, 2002, at the Hutchinson Hospital.
Nettie Genevieve Eastling, the daughter of Eugene and Hilma (Johnson) Bonniwell, was born Oct. 3, 1920, in McLeod County.
Nettie grew up on the family farm in Collinwood Township and attended district schooling near Lake Jennie. She was baptized and confirmed in the Covenant faith.
Nettie was united in marriage June 20, 1947, to LeRoy Eastling at the Bonniwell Family Farm in Collinwood Township, near Lake Jennie.
Together they resided on a farm near Medford, Minn., before they moved to Dassel. From Dassel they moved to Howard Lake, and then Cokato.
Nettie has lived at the Cokato Manor since August of 1999.
Nettie loved to talk with family and friends. She was a great card player, and enjoyed playing cards with the nursing staff at the Cokato Manor.
She took great pride in the many rugs that she weaved over the years.
Nettie is survived by her children, Kathy (Kenneth) Block of Paynesville, Lester (Jeannie) Eastling of Cokato, Margaret Eastling of Cokato, Caroline Peterson of Buffalo, Darrell Eastling of Cokato, Dorothy (Robert) Drake of Buffalo, Edward (Jeannette) Eastling of Cokato; 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Madeline McCormick of Dassel and Edna Snyder of Junction City, Kan.
Nettie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, LeRoy; one son, Gary; a great-grandson, Jordan Block; and two brothers, Kenneth and Marvin.
Visitation was Sunday, July 13, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Johnson Funeral Home in Dassel and one-hour prior to the funeral service.
A funeral service was Monday, July 15, 10:30 a.m., at the Evangelical Covenant Church in Dassel. The Rev. Keith Carlson officiated the service.
Hymns sung were "How Great Thou Art," "Amazing Grace," and "What a Friend We Have In Jesus." Janet Latt was the organist for the service.
Gary Eastling, Jason Eastling, Greg Peterson, Scott Eastling, Lloyd Eastling, David Conlin, and Kevin Block served as casketbearers.
Interment was at the Dassel Cemetery.
