Bernice Laura Ernst
Funeral services celebrating the life of Bernice Laura Ernst, 76, of Glencoe were held on Monday, July 22, from the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Glencoe. Officiating was the Rev. Philip Penhallegon.
Mrs. Ernst died on Thursday, July 18, 2002, at the long-term care facility at Glencoe Regional Health Services.
The organist was Marge Hemmann. The congregational hymns were "God Moves In a Mysterious Way," "How Sweet the Name of Jesus Sounds" and "Crown Him With Many Crowns."
Pallbearers were Gary Selchow, Lee Selchow, Kevin Selchow, Paul Seemann, Robert Seemann, Barry Kyllo and Russ Williamson. Interment was in the Glencoe City Cemetery.
Bernice Laura Seemann was born to Arthur and Malinda (Schmalz) Seemann on April 21, 1926, in Lester Prairie. She was baptized on May 9, 1926, at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie by the Rev. J.A. Schert. She also was confirmed at St. Peter Lutheran Church by Rev. Schert on March 17, 1940. She attended and graduated from Lester Prairie High School.
She was united in marriage to Ruben Ernst on June 9, 1946, at St. Peter's Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie. Mrs. Ernst spent many years as 4-H leader teaching many children home economic projects. She encouraged her children and grandchildren to create and present at the Minnesota State Fair award-winning demonstrations and projects.
Mrs. Ernst attended Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, where she belonged to the Ladies Guild, banner committee, three Bible studies and was a Sunday school teacher.
For enjoyment, Mrs. Ernst loved reading, baking, gardening, sewing, needlepoint, ceramics and traveling. She was a very loving, caring person and always put other people's feelings before her own.
Survivors include her husband, Ruben Ernst of Glencoe; children, Roger Ernst of Minneapolis, Linda (Mike) White of Duluth, Ron Ernst of Glencoe, Karla (Mark) Hartmann of Apple Valley, and Lisa (John) Curtin of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Sara Ernst, Jennifer Ernst, Aaron Ernst, Phil White, Melissa White, Kelly Hartmann, Kristen Hartmann and Neil Curtin; great-granddaughter, Alexis Ernst; mother, Malinda Seemann of Glencoe; siblings, Deloris Seemann of Glencoe, Clarence Seemann of Winsted, and LorJean Selchow of Lester Prairie; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marvin (Erna) Ernst of Largo, Fla., Vera Ernst of Glencoe, and Lil Eggers of Wayzata; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding her in death were her father, Arthur Seemann; and brothers-in-law, Vernon Ernst and Bill Eggers Sr.
Arrangements were with the Johnson- McBride Funeral Chapel in Glencoe.
