Jean E. Freeberg
A memorial service for Jean E. Freeberg, 67, of McGregor
was held on May 18 from Grace Lutheran Church in McGregor, with the Rev.
Robert Munneke officiating.
Mrs. Freeberg died on Friday, May 10, 2002, at her home.
Burial was in Round Lake Cemetery. Pallbearers were her
grandchildren, Michael Dixon, Melanie Eckstein, Phillip Schmalz, Megan Schmalz,
Melissa Freeberg and Dean Freeberg.
Mrs. Freeberg was born on April 15, 1935, in Cloquet to
Burt and Ruth (Raveille) Thompson. She grew up and attended schools in McGregor,
graduating from McGregor High School in 1953.
She married Loren Freeberg of Willmar on July 12, 1955,
at Svea, Minn. They made their home in Glencoe, where she raised their family.
Upon retirement in 1989, they moved back to McGregor.
Mrs. Freeberg was an active member of the McGregor Flower
Club and an avid bowler. She enjoyed sewing, gardening and taking care of
her family.
Survivors included two daughters and sons-in-law, Lori
and Jim Dixon of Chaska, Jackie and Nathan Schmalz of Lester Prairie; son
and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Jean Freeberg of Hudson, Wis.; brother and
sister-in-law, Russ and Betty Thompson of McGregor; two sisters and brothers-in-law,
Ruby and Jack Serfling of McGregor and Grace and Rodney Tillman of Tamarack;
six grandchildren, Michael Dixon, Melanie (Josh) Eckstein, Phillip Schmalz,
Megan Schmalz, Melissa Freeberg and Dean Freeberg.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
The McGregor Funeral Home handled arrangements.
