Gloria Ann Gruenhagen
Funeral services for Gloria Ann Gruenhagen, 62, of Winsted and formerly of Glencoe, were held on Monday, April 1, from the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe, with the Rev. Vance Becker officiating.
Miss Gruenhagen died at Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia on Wednesday, March 27, 2002.
The organist was Mary Huebert, and the congregation sang "I Know That My Redeemer Lives," "The Strife Is O'er, the Battle Done" and "He's Risen, He's Risen."
Pallbearers were Randy Thiel, Edward Thiel Jr., Ken Schiroo, Don Gruenhagen, Al Gruenhagen and Larry Schiroo. Interment was in the Glencoe Cemetery.
Miss Gruenhagen was born in Glencoe on Jan. 17, 1940, to Otto and Mabel (Pollmann) Gruenhagen. She was baptized on Feb. 11, 1940, at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Glencoe by the Rev. A Streufert.
In September 1957, she moved to Cambridge, where she was enrolled at the Cambridge School and State Hospital.
On Nov. 8, 1987, she was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Cambridge Lutheran Church in Cambridge by the Rev. R. Hodges and the Rev. R. Larson.
Since July of 1991, Miss Gruenhagen has resided at the Trillium Home in Winsted.
She had a happy personality and enjoyed visitors and remembering the time spent with family and friends. She always welcomed the visits of her pastors who shared scripture and song. She especially enjoyed her caregivers at Trillium, including their children, outings with staff, Sunday worship, and listening to the children sing.
She liked being told she looked nice, helping pick out her own clothes, jewelry and make-up on shopping trips. Miss Gruenhagen liked music, watching TV, and "Little House On The Prairie" tapes.
Surviving family includes cousins, Marvin and Jeanne Vogt, Fran Vogt, Caroline Vogt, Walter Buckentin, Hillard and Viola Mehlhop, Victor and Georgia Mehlhop, Donald and Faye Mehlhop, Leona Wroge, Otellie Hoernemann, Martin and Irene Gruenhagen, Marian and Herman Templin, Orville and Geraldine Gruenhagen, Kenneth and Helen Gruenhagen, Jeanette and Earl Brinkman, Donald and Jean Gruenhagen, Al and Jan Gruenhagen, Delores Kegler, Donna Brandl, Edward and Cheryl Thiel Jr., Randy and Colleen Thiel and Joyce and Kenneth Schiroo; step-uncle and step-aunts, John and Cecilia Selchow, Clara Koester and Alice Stuedemann.
The Johnson-McBride Funeral Chapel of Glencoe handled arrangements.
