Mathilda H. "Tillie" Guennigsman
Mathilda H. "Tillie" Guennigsman, age 92, of Winsted, died Thursday, June 20, 2002, at St. Mary's Care Center.
She was born Jan. 13, 1910, in Schwarzach, Germany, the daughter of Ludwig and Katharina Leiminger Helmbrecht.
Tillie came to the United States when she was four years old.
Mathilda "Tillie" Helmbrecht and Albert Guennigsman were joined in holy marriage at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Winsted, Oct. 25, 1927. God blessed their marriage with a son.
Tillie and Albert engaged in dairy farming in Victor Township, Wright County.
Albert Guennigsman preceded his wife in death Dec. 23, 1992.
Tillie also formerly worked at the Green Giant plant in Winsted, was a longtime waitress at the Blue Note, and helped at Holy Trinity's School lunch program punching tickets.
She was a faithful member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Catholic Order of Foresters Holy Trinity Court 1054, American Legion Post 407 Auxiliary, St. Anne's Society, and Holy Family Council 204.
Tillie is survived by son Leo (Jeanette) Guennigsman of Howard Lake; grandchildren, Roger (Karen) Guennigsman, David (Heidi) Guennigsman, Matthew (Janet) Guennigsman, Gary (Paula) Guennigsman, Mark (Lori) Guennigsman, Allan (Trish) Guennigsman, and Jane (Dave) Murschel.
She is further survived by her great-grandchildren Brian; Nicole, Megan, Blake, Shaina, and Daniel; Tiffany (Trevor), Trisha (Dan), and Tyra; Gary Jr, Luke, Kenneth, and Michael; Kjersti, Kelsey, and Karley; Aaron and Chad; and Kyle; a great-great-grandchild: Aubri; brothers, Andrew, Ben, Edward, George, and Hank Helmbrecht, all of Mora, Isadore Helmbrecht of Mayer, and Albert Helmbrecht of Buffalo; sisters-in-law, Caroline Helmbrecht of Winsted, Catherine Helmbrecht of Buffalo, and Mabel Helmbrecht Blaness of Cokato; nieces, nephews, many other relatives, and friends.
In addition to her husband, Tillie was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, Joseph, John "Jack," Louis, William, Leonard, and one brother who died as a child; a sister, Catherine; and by a granddaughter, Annette Marie Guennigsman.
A Concelebrated Mass of Christian Burial for Tillie Guennigsman was Sunday, June 23 at 2 p.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. The Rev. Paul L. Wolf and the Rev. Martin Rath, OSB, were the concelebrants.
Interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Tillie's seven grandchildren served as her casketbearers.
Friends called at the Chilson Funeral Home, Winsted, Saturday, June 22 from 4 to 8 p.m.
A combined St. Anne and Holy Family Council rosary took place at 4:15, a Foresters rosary was recited at 5 p.m., and a parish prayer service was at 7 p.m.
The Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted served the family.
