Eldora Vivian Harris
Eldora Vivian Harris, age 79, Howard Lake, passed away Friday, Aug. 16, 2002.
Eldora was born July 25, 1923, to Clarence and Ida (Skindelien) Lien in Willmar. She grew up in the Willmar area and graduated from New London High School n 1941.
She eventually entered nursing, achieving her CNA.
Eldor married Allen Franklin Harris Oct. 14, 1944, at the Norway Lake Church. To this union, seven children were born.
Once married, they first lived in Willmar before moving to Brooten and then to Howard Lake. She worked at the Howard Lake Bowling Alley for about six years. She then worked at St. Mary's Hospital and Nursing Home in Winsted before working at the Howard Lake Nursing Home.
When Eldora couldn't live at home any longer, she first lived with Ray and Sandy before moving into St. Mary's Home in Winsted April 11, then on May 6, she moved to Howard Lake Good Samaritan.
Eldora enjoyed cross-stitch, knitting, fishing, and reading. She belonged to the VFW in New London.
Eldora was preceded in death by her husband and parents, grandchild Andrea Benusa, and brother Sherney Lien.
She is survived by Sandy (Ray) Fern of Howard Lake, Daryl
of Coon Rapids, Lynnae (Dan) Sullivan of Waverly, Wayne (Laurie) of Lester Prairie, Kevin of Eagan, Janelle (Tom) Benusa of Ham Lake, Sue (Scott) Alford of Hutchinson; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; sister, Norma (Orville) Stai of Pennock; sister-in-law, Hildegard Lien of New London; special friends, Roland Lundstrom, Jonae Zander, and Alveda Madson.
Visitation was Monday, Aug. 19, from 4 to 9 p.m. at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home, Howard Lake.
Funeral services for Eldora took place Tuesday, Aug. 20, 11 a.m., at Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home, with Rich Raschke and Dean Dykstra officiating the service.
Organ music was provided by Wendy Williams, and choir music provided by Kurt and Patty Henderson, Ralph Hartsuiker, Mona Reese, Beatta Blakeman, and Carol Severud.
Michael Lien, Roger Stai, Rick Lein, Brent Moist, Wade Harris, Clinton Harris, and Tony Saber served as casketbearers.
Swanson-Peterson Funeral Home, Howard Lake, served the family.
