Amanda L. Hesebeck
Amanda L. Hesebeck of Jackson passed away Friday, Nov. 1, 2002, at the Sioux Valley Hospital in Sioux Falls, S.D., at the age of 88 years and 16 days.
Amanda Maria Lillian Hesebeck was born Oct. 16, 1914, in Kimball Township, Jackson County, the daughter of John and Bertha (Waswo) Gohr. As a youth, she attended country school in Kimball Township.
She was united in marriage to Walter Hesebeck Aug. 21, 1938, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimball Township. After marriage, they lived and farmed in Enterprise Township, Jackson County.
After Walter passed away April 28, 1971, she continued to make her home on the farm until she moved to Jackson in 1975. She worked at Natural's and at Chosen's Department Store until her retirement.
Amanda was a lifelong and active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimball Township. She was baptized Dec. 20, 1914, and later confirmed July 7, 1929, at Immanuel.
As an adult, she was a member of the Lutheran Women's Missionary League, and the American Legion Auxiliary, and VFW Auxiliary in Jackson.
Amanda is survived by her son Roger Hesebeck and his wife, Sandra, of Jackson; daughter Rhonda and her husband, Dennis Frey, of Howard Lake; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, and three sisters-in-law: Marie Seim of Omaha, Neb., Bertha Rowe of Jackson, and Ellie Hesebeck of Jacksonville, Fla.
Visitation was Tuesday, Nov. 5, 2002, from 5 to 8 p.m., with a prayer service at 8 p.m. at the Sathe-Osterberg Funeral Home and one hour prior to the service Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002.
A funeral service took place Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2002, at 1:30 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimball Township Jackson County, with Vicar Rick Bremseth officiating.
Burial was in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery.
