Leo E. Jacques
Leo E. Jacques, age 87, of Buffalo, and formerly of Winsted, died Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at the Ridgeview Medical Center in Waconia.
He was born in Brimley, Mich. May 11, 1915, the son of Joseph and Anna Quinn Jacques.
On Nov. 25, 1941, Leo E. Jacques and Monica Corr were joined in holy marriage at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. God blessed their marriage with 13 children.
Leo was employed as a sprinkler fitter for many years with Automatic Sprinkler. He belonged to union local #669, and was a former member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church.
He enjoyed camping, traveling with his family, and spending winters in Arizona.
Leo was preceded in death by a son, Patrick Jacques; his parents, Joseph and Anna Quinn Jacques; and by two brothers, Ernie and Robert Jacques.
He is survived by his wife, Monica C. Jacques; children Sharon Mallak of Howard Lake, Robert Jacques of Scottsdale, Ariz., Terry (Millie) Jacques of Phoenix, Ariz., Colleen (Mike) Wedge of Buffalo, Debbie (Lenny) Pawelk of Loretto, Jackie (Phil) Sonstegard of Sioux Falls, S.D., Bradley (Lynn) Jacques of Glendale, Ariz., Tom (Mary) Jacques of Waverly, Shaun Jacques of Mayer, Brenda (Joe Koppi) Torblaa of Delano, Tammy (Elmer) Weinmann of Lester Prairie, and Shannon (Brian) Johnson of Cokato.
He is further survived by 36 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Audrey (Fred) Attaway of Fullerton, Calif., and Joan (George) Blakesley of Rockford, Ill.; two brothers, John Jacques of Escanaba, Mich., and Fred (Joyce) Jacques of Gladstone, Mich.; nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial for Leo Jacques took place Friday, Aug. 30, 10:30 a.m., at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Winsted. The Rev. Paul L. Wolf was the celebrant, and interment followed at Holy Trinity Cemetery.
Mike Grosser was the vocalist for the funeral service, singing "Oh Danny Boy," "In the Garden," and "On Eagles' Wings." Patty Munson was his accompanist.
Friends called at the Chilson Funeral Home in Winsted Thursday, Aug. 29, from 4 to 8 p.m. A prayer service was at 7:30 p.m.
Jesse Decker, Joshua Lemke, Peter Sonstegard, Brandon Pawelk, Shane Kienholz, and Nick Torblaa served as casket bearers.
The Chilson Funeral Chapel in Winsted served the family.
